Scott's distinctive style looks like life is imitating art. He talks about finding the atmosphere of a place and how it made him feel when he was there, conveying the personality of a place in his paintings and screen prints.
Scott uses a few seemingly random brushstrokes and almost cavalier swooshes of paint to start building the layers of colour and create an impression of the Dales, adding detail so locations are instantly recognisable. Recognition doesn't come through a perfect replica of a treasured view, rather from a sense of place and Scott's ability to truly capture a moment in time.
This short film, commissioned by Masham Gallery (where you can see an extensive range of his work) really conveys Scott's love of the Dales and painting - and Yorkshire Tea. Scott's work is on display in galleries through out the country. You can see an extensive range at Masham Gallery, including prints and originals. He also works to commission. | |
