| It's January and it's not snowing but it's not very warm either. So today's suggestion for 365 Ways to Discover the Dales is probably going to sound a bit daft - wild swimming. Yes, I do mean swimming outside. In a river. In all weathers. Who'd be mad enough to do that? Let me point you in the direction of Stuart Gledhill, who is quite determined to swim outdoors through out Winter and is a dab hand at discovering some great spots. So why would you want to get into a cold river? You get to see the Dales from a completely different angle. After a while you really start to notice wildlife - there's nothing quite like seeing a kingfisher swoop down after a fish in the river by your side. It's incredibly refreshing and uplifting, making you giggle like a child. It's free too.
