Experiences and Courses at Dales Countryside Museum

Throughout 2021, Dales Countryside Musuem are organising a series of arts and crafts experiences to residents and visitors of the Yorkshire Dales.

The Woolly Wander Experience is run in partnership with Semerwater Alpaca Ambles and allows visitors to take the alpacas for a gentle stroll through the beautiful Dales and provides views of the area's second largest natural lake, Semerwater. After this excursion, visitors have the opportunity to explore the museum textile gallery and learn the techniques and processes to create your own felted picture using the wool from the alpacas!

Suggested duration: Full day, from 10am to 3pm.

Price guideline per person: £50 (includes lunch)

Another experience the museum is offering is An Introduction to Collagraph Printmaking which allows visitors to join the printmaker Hester Cox and take the landscape and wildlife of the Dales as inspiration for this exciting printmaking method. Suitable for beginners or artists wanting to expand their techniques.

Suggested duration: Full day, from 10:30am to 4:30pm

Price guideline per person: £50 (includes light lunch)

Finally, there are a few options when it comes to felting experiences at the Dales Countryside Museum during May 2021. These include Wet Felting for Beginners, Wet and Needle Felting and Felt and Stitch.  All three of these activities are suitable for beginners and allow visitors to learn new skills using wool from alpacas in the Yorkshire Dales. All materials are included for the experiences, however for Felt and Stitch, participants should ideally bring their own sewing machine and free motion embroidery foot to the workshop.

Suggested duration: Full day, from 10:30am to 4:30pm

Price guideline per person: Each activity is £45 each

More information regarding all activities can be found at: www.dalescountrysidemuseum.org.uk
