Recent freak rainstorms have meant that two roads are temporarily closed but don't let that put you off driving to Reeth - the other routes are equally awe-inspiring and you'll discover some different aspects of the Dales on your way there. The two roads currently closed are the B6270 from Downholme to Grinton and C106 from Grinton to Reeth

One of the routes that's closed is unromantically known as the "Tank Road" because it's sometimes used by the army.
I prefer the alternative route through gorgeous and relatively unknown Apedale from Leyburn to Reeth.
It's very scenic and will take you through the lovely little village of Wensley, through Redmire, with views of Bolton Castle on the way.
Allow a little longer than Google suggests: Google knows a lot but has clearly forgotten that this route is so lovely, you'll want to stop and take plenty of photos on the way...
The route from Hawes to Reeth is a special gem. You could just drive from Hawes over the Buttertubs to Reeth in one journey, but I'd recommend allowing a little more time so you can really enjoy the beauty of villages such as Thwaite and Muker en route.
From Richmond to Reeth
There's yet another scenic route waiting for you to discover, travelling from Richmond to Reeth, taking Hurgill Road towards Marske.
