You may wonder why this is so remarkable - apart from the fact that they very rarely ever missed a day despite sometimes battling some incredible weather. Some of the villages they serve don't have any other places to eat out, and while fish and chips might be seen as overly traditional by many, they're more than welcome in the Dales.
After around 39 years bringing hot tasty pleasure to people all around the Yorkshire Dales the Ramsay's eventually retired and very sadly Richard died only a short while after.
The business was sold and now another young couple are putting their heart and soul into the route, and picking up where the previous owners left off. In some villages they're now serving the third generation of the same family.glad you enjoyed your supper this evening. Ian of Abbotside Events bought the business and now Eddie and Jennifer Baker have taken on the van, building on their own hospitality experience.
In an area where there are very few fast food outlets, the arrival of the van on its regular routes (check their facebook page for the timings) is keenly awaited, with queues forming and a real buzz. There's much hilarity and chatter in the queue, with regulars enjoying the chance to catch up. The van often parks outside a local pub, handy after the thirsty work of eating the delicious crispy fish and chips.
