Is the green you see the same tone of green I see?
This is the thought that often goes through my head when I see artists' work. We're surrounded by the same stunning sights, and yet artists are able to draw inspiration from their location in so many very different ways.
Most of the time we might see art but rarely get a chance to meet the artist behind the work.

It's not just a chance to see some work by artists you might not have come across before. The organisers describe it as a "Creative Treasure Trail" and that's spot-on.
You'll also find yourself visiting unfamiliar villages and corners of the Yorkshire Dales in the quest to peak inside artists' studios.

Some of the settings are as stunning as the work. Expect to find potters, painters, sculptors, jewellers, textile artists, stonemasons, and printmakers.
North Yorkshire Open Studios is run by a group of artists and entry to all their studios is free. There's a careful selection process for the participating artists so you can be sure you'll see high quality work, which is also available to buy.
The Open Studios event takes place on 1st and 2nd June and then again on 8th and 9th June. It's worth planning ahead so you can see several different studios - take a look at the map on www.nyos.org.uk for more details.
